It’s been a fairly relentless couple of months for me as I head into the busiest bookselling and literary events season with the added complication of being forced to leave my flat of eight years by the end of August. Oh, and my band was touring last week too. As people are dispersed across so many platforms these days, I thought it worth compiling the events I’ll be chairing throughout the month as part of both the Book Festival and Fringe here as well as on the website formerly known as Twitter and Bluesky.
First up, tomorrow night (7th) I’ll be chairing the legendary Stewart Home about his latest provocation, Fascist Yoga, at Argonaut Books surrounded by several start-up yoga studios. Expect heated debate and perhaps even a headstand from the author. Details here.
Next Monday the 11th, I’m privileged to be hosting the paperback launch of Chris Kohler’s revelatory Phantom Limb also at Argonaut Books. Come hear from one of the most original new voices in Scottish fiction and grab a copy of the paperback to get illustrated by the man himself if I didn’t manage to convince you to get the beautiful hardback already. Details here.
Lastly, I’m looking forward to leading a discussion about the legacy of Edinburgh’s premier literary enigma, Muriel Spark, with the editor of her newly published letters, Professor Dan Gunn, at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Tickets available here.
Hope to see some of you around throughout the month!
